Three people have lost their lives following a road accident that occurred on Thursday evening along the Ilesa–Akure Expressway in Osun State.
The incident reportedly took place around the Omi Asoro Junction area of Ilesa and involved two commercial vehicles. Emergency responders and residents rushed to the scene shortly after the collision.
According to the Osun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), 10 other passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries and were attended to following the crash.
While authorities are yet to release a detailed account of the circumstances surrounding the accident, eyewitnesses disclosed that one of the vehicles was travelling towards Akure when the collision occurred.
Local residents expressed concern over the frequent accidents recorded along the route and called on motorists to exercise greater caution while driving.
The injured victims were reportedly taken for medical attention, while efforts were made to clear the affected vehicles from the roadway.
Authorities have continued investigations into the cause of the accident.
