Banditry Surges Across Northern States While Military Launches Coordinated Counter-Operations

INTRO
Tonight, fear swept through three northern states as bandits launched a series of coordinated attacks—targeting worshippers, families, and entire communities. But the Nigerian military is hitting back with new, precision airstrikes aimed at crippling the terrorists’ strongholds.

Kogi State – Worship Turns to Terror

In Kogi State, what was meant to be a peaceful Sunday service turned into a terrifying ordeal.
Armed attackers stormed a Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Ejiba, Yagba West Local Government Area… interrupting prayers with gunfire and chaos.

The pastor, his wife… and several worshippers were dragged away into the night.
Panicked church members fled in every direction, desperately seeking safety as the gunmen took control.

The Kogi State Government has deployed security teams and intensified surveillance.
Commissioner Kingsley Fanwo says the priority is clear: bring the victims home alive.

Kano State – A Community Attacked in Their Sleep

And in Kano State, tragedy struck Yankamaye village.
Under the cover of darkness, gunmen slipped into the community around 11 p.m. — a time when most residents were fast asleep.

An elderly woman was killed… and three villagers were abducted.
Eyewitnesses say the attackers rode in on motorcycles, abandoned them on the outskirts, and crept in on foot to avoid detection.

Sokoto State – A Wedding Shattered by Violence

Meanwhile, in Sokoto State, celebration turned to heartbreak.
Just hours before a planned wedding in Chacho community, bandits invaded — seizing dozens of residents, including the bride, her friends, and guests.

Families who gathered to celebrate love now wait in anguish, unsure of the fate of their loved ones.

Military Response – Airstrikes Hit Terrorist Bases

But the Nigerian Armed Forces are responding aggressively.

The Nigerian Air Force has launched a series of precision counter-offensives under Operation FANSAN YAMMA and Operation HADIN KAI, targeting terrorist hideouts across Katsina and supporting troops in Borno.

Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame confirmed that intelligence-led airstrikes on November 27 destroyed fortified camps belonging to a notorious terrorist commander… neutralizing several fighters and crippling their logistics network.

And in Chibok, Borno State—fighter jets delivered four decisive strikes, halting a multi-directional assault by ISWAP/Boko Haram fighters and preventing what could have been a devastating attack on civilians.

Ejodame says the integrated air-and-ground operations are designed to send a clear message:
the military will not allow terrorists the freedom to operate.

CLOSING

Across Kogi, Kano, and Sokoto, families are grieving… communities are on edge… and rescue efforts continue.
But with renewed military pressure, many hope these coordinated assaults mark a turning point in the fight against banditry and terrorism.

We’ll continue to follow these stories as they unfold.
